Tower Terminal Guards for Condensing Boilers
The Tower range of Terminal Guards is designed specifically for use with condensing boiler flue terminals, providing essential protection where terminals are installed less than 2.1 metres above accessible areas such as ground level, balconies, or flat roofs. Manufactured to comply with BS5440-1:2008, these guards help ensure safe, regulation-compliant boiler installations in domestic heating systems.
Terminal guards are required in situations where flue terminals are within reach, preventing accidental contact and protecting against potential injury. They are particularly recommended for installations using plume management kits, where flue terminals may be positioned in accessible locations. When fitted correctly, the guard must maintain a minimum 50mm clearance from all parts of the terminal, in line with the standard.
Tower offers multiple material and finish options to suit different installation environments and corrosion risks. For condensing boilers, where acidic condensate may be present, plastic-coated or stainless steel guards are recommended to prevent corrosion. Zinc and pass-plated finishes are available but are not suitable for condensing boiler applications due to the risk of corrosion from condensate.
The Tower terminal guard range includes both standard and high-level designs, with certain models featuring mesh infill for additional protection where required. All designs are intended for straightforward installation while maintaining compliance with current boiler and building regulations.
