Important:
According to BS 5440-1:2008 (Section 9.2.1), if individuals can come into contact with a flue terminal, a protective guard must be installed. This guard should be positioned so that no part is less than 50mm from any section of the terminal. A suitable guard is required when a terminal is situated less than 2.1 metres above ground level, a balcony, or a flat roof accessible to people. For plume management kits, if the inlet is below 2.0 metres in these locations, a protective guard is also necessary.
Terminal Guards for Condensing Boilers:
Zinc-Plated Guards: Not suitable for condensing boilers due to potential corrosion issues.
Plastic-Coated (Polyethylene) Guards: Recommended for condensing boilers; available from Tower.
Stainless Steel Guards: Suitable for all boiler types, including condensing, non-condensing, gas, oil, and wood-burning systems. They offer enhanced durability and a significantly longer service life.
